It’s that time of year again! The irresistible scents of pumpkin pie, turkey, gravy, stuffing and mashed potatoes are soon to be wafting through our homes. In a time of so much uncertainty, sharing a meal with family is extra special. And we still have so much to be grateful for!
Are you prepared to host your 2020 Thanksgiving? Here are a few tips on how to get your Sturbridge Home ready and have a successful celebration this holiday season!
Thanksgiving Shopping Guide
Do you always catch yourself waiting until the last minute to do your Thanksgiving grocery store run? Are you used to making multiple trips to the store as you’re cooking on Thanksgiving day?
Save yourself the headache by creating your complete shopping list ahead of time and get those grocery runs done earlier in the week! Then have everything in the kitchen prepped and ready to go when you wake up on Thanksgiving morning. Save that extra time for doing things that matter most — spending quality time with your loved ones.
Here’s a quick shopping guide to keep your Thanksgiving grocery trip on track.
Prep Your Home For Thanksgiving
With family coming to visit and so much time being spent in the kitchen, make sure your home is spick and span ahead of time. Build a checklist for each room of the house, and get your cleaning started early in the week. Delegate easier chores to your kiddos to lighten the cleaning load for yourself. Make sure you’re well stocked on items like soap and extra towels (especially this season when we’re all trying to keep hands extra clean!).
Thanksgiving Decor
To create a cozy autumn haven for the season, set the tone in your home with a beautiful blend of warm ambers and soft cranberries. Play with textures such as corn husk and burlap to echo that feeling of the sun setting over farmland. Sprinkle votive candles and tea light candles throughout your home and on tables to add that fireside glow. Be sure to choose a bold centerpiece that all your other decorations can tie into and complement. There are so many ways to create your own absolutely stunning centerpieces.
Creative COVID-Friendly Gatherings
You can still have a fantastic family holiday this year…even during a pandemic. If you have family travel to your home, the CDC says the safest way to celebrate would be to host your Thanksgiving meal outside. Create a gorgeous table spread out in the open air. Let the outdoor setting inform some of your decor for the day. Pinecones and fall leaves make beautiful additions to a burlap runner or cranberry colored place settings.
For those family members who can’t travel this year, bring those devices out to the table, and video-call them in. We might be physically apart this year, but you can still make everyone a part of the celebration!
